Today we shall explore the importance of sleep. In today’s busy world, it is often easy to dismiss at beauty sleep as
a myth or undermine its importance. But I personally cannot stress enough on the importance of sleep and how
essential it is. Sleep helps to reduce the ruthlessness of facial wrinkles because during the sleeping cycle, the
body experiences a surge in growth hormone that is responsible for the renewal of your skin cells. Moreover, while
sleeping, your body perspires more and this natural perspiration helps to hydrate you skin as your cells
regenerate. For this to occur, you must experience deep sleep for it is only in the deepest stages the this occurs at
its optimum level. There is scientific evidence that skin cells regenerate faster at night than during the day. Cell
division happens throughout the day, but peaks around 2 am. This is literally renewal and rejuvenation during
sleep. The peak in cell division happens even if you stay awake at night, while the surge in growth hormone
doesn’t. As seen here, sleep is an essential ingredient to allow this wonderful natural phenomenon to occur. This is
the most basic and most natural skin care you can give your own body. Because it is naturally suited to our
bodies, it is ten times more effective than all the skincare products you may buy.
What happens if you lose sleep? Unlike common belief, sleep cannot be ‘carried over’ to the next day, it is not a
debt that you can pay by sleeping one long shot, once forgone, that sleep for the day has been forever lost. You
can only hope to better treasure your future nights. Lack of sleep adversely impacts your body fat percentage and
raises your risk of all sorts of diseases and illnesses like strokes and diabetes. You will not be able to function well
awake as your brain is sleep deprived and hence you will be unable to give your best face forward to fully
showcase your beauty. Your unhealthy appearance will dim your beauty and this is such a waste of good easy
skincare. All it requires is for you to sleep.
For those who have difficulty sleeping, before you reach for your sleeping pills, let me suggest the alternative of
aromatherapy. Being an aromatherapist, I have witnessed many fall into deep sleep under the spell of hazy scents
that lull your senses into sleep. This method is more natural and also serves to enhance the already countless
benefits of sleep by aiding your bloodstream as it works through the night.
